About Montenegro

montenegro, mountains, nature-3761462.jpg

Honestly, I only recently discovered the beauty of this country in Southeastern Europe because of my brother, who is about to take a trip there! It’s a small mountainous country located in the Balkans – near Croatia and Albania.  It is a safe country for tourists to visit, it’s unique and is high on my list of places to go! The currency is the Euro and thanks to tourism, it should be easy to find people that speak English here.

Flight $885

ORD –> TGD roundtrip (Podgorica Airport – capital city)

Turkish Airlines, April 6th-12th

Where to Stay

  • Check out this Airbnb for $24 a night!!! It’s 2 minutes from the beach, and surrounded by mountains. The total cost would be $150 for 5 nights!! I’m not over it…

  • It is located about an hour and a half from the airport, in a town near Kotor.  You would most likely need to rent a car to get here. I would suggest renting a car regardless of where you stay. It’s such a small country and you could easily access the other neighboring countries like Bosnia and Herzegovina!

Car Rental - €182 total

Check out Delta Car Rental or any of the others in Montenegro! This example is for an automatic transmission with unlimited mileage that you can pickup at the airport.  I usually recommend Turo but they don’t yet operate in Montenegro. This company has a lot of good reviews.

Nearby Hikes

  • Donji Orahovac – Vranovo Brdo-Perast: I’m not sure what I just typed there, but this hike looks beautiful on the alltrails app! Rated hard, 5.7 mile out and back trail where some people describe the views as “lord of the rings”.
  • Old Town Perast Loop – Rated easy – 1-mile popular trail for walking with some stairs and views of the town!

What to Pack

Montenegro in April will most likely be around 65 degrees fahrenheit. While it’s not ideal beach weather, I think it’s a great time to go to avoid most tourists!

If traveling from the US, you’ll need a type F power adapter/converter. This one is universal!

Airpods – noise cancellation blocks out the noise on the plane so you can hopefully sleep like a baby!

Blundstones! They are made for adventure! They are so versatile and comfortable! I don’t know what I did before these. Take them on a hike or wear them walking around town! I truly can’t recommend them enough.

Packing cubes save so much space! You guys, I dont ever bring a checked bag and its so convenient. Do yourself a favor and get these for your next trip!

Always always always pack these!! Hiking trips or not. These are the perfect snack or quick breakfast and packed with protein 🙂 Use this referral link and use code: Alysa for 15% off!

Total Cost for 2 (flights, accommodation & car) = ~$2100
